New Year’s Firework Safety

We are quickly approaching the end of the holiday season with New Year’s Eve marking the end of 2015 and the start of a new year! As with 4th of July, New Year’s Eve is a popular time for fireworks, which brings about the matter of safety.

The safest thing you can do is to view a public fireworks show, where you are at a safe distance and safety precautions are taken by those putting on the show. However, if you are planning on celebrating with your own fireworks, it’s important to be aware of your states specific firework laws.

Many states put certain restrictions, or a full ban on the use of fireworks. While some people travel to different states to obtain fireworks and bring them back, illegal use can result in fines and time in county jail, depending on your state laws.

In the state of Florida, “safe and sane” fireworks are permitted. If it is a something that flies or pops, then consider it to be illegal. The safety of children is also another growing concern. Fireworks such as sparklers, which are legal, pose a serious risk of third-degree ” on a child. Always supervise children when in the presence of fireworks.
